Maracha District Local Government has a new Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO), Mr. Edema Stephen Budra. Mr. Budra took over office today from Mr. Wadia Modest, acting DCAO. Mr. Wadia has been acting DCAO from late February 2024, after receiving office from Mr. Abia Robert Owilli who was transferred to Napak District.

Mr. Wadia said it was good to have Mr. Bura back to Maracha District Local Government after previously he rendered his service to the District in the same position.  Mr. Wadia said when he was serving cases of missing salaries, delayed processing of pension and gratuity were minimized.

Mr. Wadia said some of the pending issues include; prioritization of recruitment of town clerks and sub-county chiefs, and community development officers; re-organization of parish chiefs and town clerks; staff indiscipline in health and education sectors; and staff support and monitoring of lower local governments.

Mr. Wadia said it was paramount to regularly conduct back stopping of lower local governments to improve service delivery.

Mr. Budra pledged to make his contribution by giving “the best of his labor to the people of Maracha”. Mr. Budra said with cooperation and teamwork challenges can be surmounted.

Mr. Budra said the District has to look beyond markets as a main source of local revenue by coming up with better revenue mobilization strategy.  He said he had taken note of the administrative challenges that Mr. Wadia pointed saying that those which are budget neutral they will be dealt with and those that need resources they will be lobbied.

Hon. Obitre Stephen, Maracha District Chairperson, said it was great to have Mr. Budra redeployed given that he understands the District having previously worked in Maracha. Hon. Obitre said it was important that the District comes up with a robust Local Economic Development (LED) strategy. He said the District should look at project proposals to address the challenge of dwindling development and discretionary grants.

The handover was witnessed by several other officials who included;  Hon. Ndera Iren, Secretary Production and Natural Resource;  Hon. Waga Charles, Secretary Works and Technical Services; Ms. Badaru Constance, acting District Internal Auditor; Mr. Jurua Russall Okudra, Assistant District Health Officer (Environmental Health); Mr. Kamilo Agamile, Senior Human Resource Officer;  and Mr. Abiriga Barnabas , Record Officer.

Mr. Budra has been transferred from Pakwach District.
